Kaunertal Glacier

The Kaunertal Glacier Roadway in itself appears imposing. It winds its way from the village Feichten which sits at 1,273 meters above sea level, climbing even higher to the edge of the “ewigen Eises”, (Eternal Ice) sitting at 2,750 m. It winds its way over 26 km., twisting its way around approximately 29 corners, with an altitude difference of 1,500 meters. Experience the incredible features that are found along side the road, take notice of what is around you, it is worth it.

A trip through the Climate Zone

A drive along the Kaunertal Glacier Roadway climatically is like driving from Tyrol into the Far north of Europe. Only with driving through it, can you experience the Climate change and see the change in vegetation within minutes. The surrounding mountain tops obtain similar conditions to those found in Greenland.
